Hull Collegiate School commonly known as Collegiate School or just Collegiate, is a public school (privately funded and independent) for boys and girls, established, with the merger of Hull Grammar School and Hull High School, in September 2005
It is located in Anlaby, near Hull, in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England.
[edit] Overview
Hull Collegiate School has more than 800 pupils between the ages of 3 and 18 at a cost of about £2,747 per term.
[edit] History
Hull Collegiate School has been established as the result of a merger between two of Hull’s top independent schools, Hull High School and Hull Grammar School. Situated four miles to the west of Hull and one mile north east of the Humber Bridge, the school is based at Tranby Croft, a beautiful country house which benefits from five hectares of mature landscaped grounds.
The Preparatory School is housed in a purpose-built facility on the same site and was opened in 2004. The Senior Schools joined forces in September 2005, completing the multi-million pound investment by parent company United Church Schools Trust. This has provided state-of-the-art facilities and transformed the school into a first class learning environment for the twenty first century.
[edit] School terms
There are three annual school terms, collectively known as Halves (a historical throwback to when there were only two terms).
- The Michaelmas Half, from early September to mid December. New pupils are now only admitted at the start of the Michaelmas Half.
- The Lent Half, from mid January to late March.
- The Trinity Half, from late April to early July.
