Talk:Hui (Māori assembly)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hawaiian? How can it be 'from the Hawaiian' if it's Maori?

(Clearly it's possible that the same word is used in a similar sense in both languages, but both are descended from a comman ancestor, not either from the other)

[edit] Delete it?

'Hui' comes from a Polynesian word meaning 'unite, come together' and happens to be identical in Māori and Hawaiian. But what is the point of this article? Why not incorporate this into the article Māori. Kahuroa 13:27, 2 January 2006 (UTC).
