[edit] Template:Civil2 proposed for deletion
I noticed that you have previously worked on Template:Civil2. I thought you should know that it is currently proposed for deletion. Please consider adding your comments at templates for deletion. -- Aylahs (talk) 16:28, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Room of Katinas
Hello, you recently reverted my edit to Seb Rochford. I realise that you would like to have the conversation on my talk page, however there has been no reply, so this is just to tell you that I stand by my edit, and would like to resolve this instead of just putting it back. Thanks, Thesamc 22:16, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
- Hi, Thesamc. You left a note explaining your edit in the right place, the talk page of the article concerned. I replied there a couple of weeks ago. --HughCharlesParker (talk - contribs) 11:34, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry about that, I forgot to check it. Thanks, Thesamc 19:21, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
- :) No problem. --HughCharlesParker (talk - contribs) 19:32, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Age category
Hello! If you are receiving this message, that means that your user page is in a specific year category. Per a recent user-category per deletion, all specific year categories are to be deleted. If you wish to continue using year categories, you have two options:
- Using an age group category, such as Category:Wikipedians in their 30s
- Using a decade category, such as Category:Wikipedians born in the 1970s.
If you wish, you may do both. Hopefully, this change in categorization will be quick and painless. Happy editing! --An automated message from MessedRobot 12:47, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Recent edit to FV
Hi, I'm Ignatzmice. I think you thought Folklore Village was an ad, which it wasn't. It's a grat place and I was going to write an article about it. Could you explain why you think it was an ad?
Sorry, Ignatzmicetalkcontribs 18:43, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
- In my edit I removed two redlinks and an advert; Folklore Village was one of the redlinks; the advert was one of the other entries. Once the Folklore Village article is in place we can put a link back on the FV page. You might want to read wikipedia's notability criteria first, though. --HughCharlesParker (talk - contribs) 08:39, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Dr. Who / Happy Numbers
FYI: I've moved our entire conversation to the talk page of happy number so others might join in! - DavidWBrooks 21:37, 20 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Elbow, elbow-joint, etc.
Just so you know, the elbow page has been moved to elbow (disambiguation) and elbow joint has been moved to elbow, per your request. If you want, take a look so that everything looks OK. Thanks for mentioning this! For more information, you could also look at Talk:Elbow (disambiguation) Cheers! If you have any questions, please contact me at my talk page. [edit] Brain Gym
This is probably on your watchlist, but it appears that the Brain Gym folks have removed everything they don't like again. I haven't reverted it on the chance that they've added something useful, but it's a bit hearts-and-flowers now. Acroterion (talk) 20:03, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
- It is on my watchlist, but thanks for the note anyway. I checked the diff - the only changes were the removal of a few words in a way that subtracted meaning, and the removal of five paragraphs of concise well-cited criticism. I've revered it back. --HughCharlesParker (talk - contribs) 09:56, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Nikolai Bernstein
Hi. Thanks for the improvement to my note on Nikolai Bernstein. (That was my first WP contribution.) Your solution, the new section, was the way I should have done it. Appreciate your help. FLJerseyBoy 18:39, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
- Hi FLJerseyBoy, and welcome to Wikipedia. I guess you're a BBC News webpage reader too - it was reading the article on the RunBot that prompted me to start the Nikolai Bernstein article. No worries about fixing the page - all credit to you for being bold. Someone's created a RunBot page now, so I've turned the new bit into a "see also" section. --HughCharlesParker (talk - contribs) 20:20, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Wikimedia UK
Hi,
At some point you expressed an interest in supporting meta:Wikimedia UK. We're now ready to begin receiving applications from prospective members. If you would like to join, application forms and further information can be found at: http://www.wikimedia.org.uk/join. Feel free to ask me if you have any questions, either via my user page at the English Wikipedia or by email (andrew.walker@wikimedia.org.uk).
Thanks, Andreww 15:03, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
(Membership officer, Wikimedia UK)
- Hi Andreww. I did indeed express an interest. The main thing I'm after is a change in the way I donate. I pay an amount monthly by paypal, so I assume the foundation is having to pay paypal charges on that. Can I set up a monthly standing order / direct debit to the UK chapter? I'm also willing to become a guarantor member. --HughCharlesParker (talk - contribs) 20:21, 2 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Message moved from the top of the page
OK, I have no idea what I am doing. The enormity of this really hits home now. I hope you can read THIS! I think if I'm allowed a mentor I could do a lot of good, but don't know how or where to start. I should, but wasn't raised in the computer generation. Can you help? --Leah DosSantos 03:48, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
- Hi Leah. Sorry, I didn't get your message until now, I've been on a long wikibreak. --HughCharlesParker (talk - contribs) 11:58, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Help with submitting information
Thanks for getting into contact with me, I'm racking my absolute brain trying to figure out how to use Wikipedia correctly! Infact, it took me a good half an hour to realize the + symbol at the top of the page allowed me to do this. I'll be highly embarassed if I've done it wrong now.
I need help adding information. I'd never add false information and I would always provide a valid source, I just don't know how to provide the source. Do I simply copy and paste the link to the publication that verifies what I have submit? Or is it more complex than that? Call me stupid (well, try not to!) but I couldn't see anywhere else to add the source when I edited the page. The reason I am so concerned I have done it wrong is because pages with extensive information have boxes like this [2] to the top right of the finished paragraph which then links to the source. I don't know how to do that!
Help me!
--Rosario 12:35, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
- :) Don't worry, you'll get the hang of the basics quite quickly. You've added your comment to my talk page properly, but even if you hadn't, it's no big deal. If you mess the formatting up, or even if you somehow mess the whole page up, it can easily be fixed. You might want to read our be bold guideline. People do get banned for messing with wikipedia, but only if it's persistent, and only if it's clear that it's malicious, rather than accidental. Everyone starts as a beginner.
- The long answer to your question on referencing can be found at our Wikipedia:Citing sources page. The short answer is that on most pages if you put your link between "ref" tags it'll appear in the references section at the bottom, all automatically done properly. You can also use the cite web template for a good reference to a web page. As an example, I'll reference this sentence with a pointless link to my website.[1] If you edit this section you'll see how it's done.
- I've found that a useful way to learn how to do these things is to have a go, and add the page I've edited to my watchlist so that if someone comes along later and fixes my edits I can see what I got wrong. I hope this helps - good luck. --HughCharlesParker (talk - contribs) 12:53, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

- Is this how I reply? Haha, god I'm so terrible at this. I think I'm getting the hang of it, but probably not. Rosario 15:43, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

-
- Pretty much, yes. If you put colons at the start of the line it indents - that way it's easy to see when text changes from your writing to mine. I've reformatted this section to how it should be so you can see. Also (to nitpick), leave your signature on the same line as the rest of your comment. Wikipedia:Talk page guidelines has the full story. --HughCharlesParker (talk - contribs) 15:50, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

- :) You're not driving me insane. You messed up a few things, which people have fixed for you - if you look at the history of the page you can see what they've changed. If you want any help understanding the changes they've made, ask me. Also, don't forget to sign your messages, and be careful not to remove stuff from talk pages when you're adding your comments. As I said before, though, don't worry about the things you miss - keep on being bold. --HughCharlesParker (talk - contribs) 13:10, 29 July 2007 (UTC)

- Could you explain to me, how to add a resources section? I just created the Cheyenne Tozzi page, and like others I have previously created, I don't know how to add the resources correctly. I'm under the impression that the rest (or at least the majority) of what I have submit is done correctly. I hope I'm getting the hang of it. Slightly complicated you could say! --Rosario 06:21, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

- All you need to do is put in a section heading called "References", and then on the next line put <references />. A few days back I created an example one here so you could see how it works - if you just edit this section you'll see it in action.
- The other thing you could usefully do is add {{uncategorized}} to the bottom of a new article - that way another editor can add it to the right category for you. --HughCharlesParker (talk - contribs) 09:54, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Heidegger Criticism
It would be nice if you could help rewrite this section rather than reverse corrections and additions.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ehmhel (talk • contribs) 17:53, 3 August 2007.
- Sorry, I was vandaltracking, and I saw [[Media:Example.ogg]] come up. I didn't read your edit carefully enough. --HughCharlesParker (talk - contribs) 18:01, 3 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Cincinnati Kid references
I would appreciate it if, either within the article or on the talk page, you would specify exactly what material you believe requires referencing. It seems well-referenced to me and in the absence of any further guidance I don't understand the validity of the criticism. Otto4711 22:28, 3 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Comment moved from the top of the page
Further to your removal of my comment on the Enterprise page, I have not written anything that is not true and have plenty of photographic evidence to back it up. What I wrote was not vandalism, it is fact, it is the culmination of having Enterprise employees in my home for the past 5 months fitting a kitchen, yes a kitchen! Something that is being looked into by the Council and the local Lib Dem party as it was not isolated to me but to over 70 houses. Janetsara07 21:29, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry for the delay. It's unlikely that you'll see this reply, but, for the record, I wasn't questioning whether or not it had happened. I was questioning whether or not a reliable source could be cited to back up the assertion. --HughCharlesParker (talk - contribs) 11:58, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Suggesting speedy deletion of Michael Crafter
The article was filled with absolute nonsense and the only piece of information that does make sense has no source and according to the official website of the band he is supposedly in, he's not listed as a member. Perhaps a previous member, but still, obviously not a notable person and therefore shouldn't be added to Wikipedia.
Speedy deletion?
Perhaps you might place the tag, I'm not sure I have the authority to. --Rosario 15:59, 7 October 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry, Rosario, I wasn't around to reply to your message. It looks like the article is sorted now. --HughCharlesParker (talk - contribs) 12:08, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
