Hugo Vihlen

Hugo Vihlen is a sailor who set records crossing the Atlantic Ocean by singlehandedly sailing two tiny boats.
For his voyage in 1968, Vihlen sailed from Casablanca, Morocco, to Miami, Florida. in the 5' 11” long “April Fool”. This voyage is covered in Vihlen's book “April Fool”.
In 1993, he chose to leave from the U.S. coast and headed for England, crossing the North Atlantic in a boat, named “Father's Day”, that was just 5 feet 4 inches long. The story of this four month journey is told in “The Stormy Voyage of Father's Day."
