Hughesy and Kate is an Australian radio station breakfast show on Nova 100.3 in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It is hosted by Australian comedian and TV personality Dave Hughes 'Hughesy' and Australian TV and Radio Personality Kate Langbroek. News and traffic updates are presented by Carrie Bickmore, while sport is presented by Jeff Tyler.

Dave O'Neil was formerly the anchor of the show since its inception in 2001 as it was known previous as 'Hughesy, Kate & Dave' but in 2006 he moved to breakfast Vega 91.5. Tim Blackwell replaced Dave although his name is not credited in the shows title.

The show runs from 6am to 9am weekdays Monday to Friday, with all the latest music as well as daily topic discussions and special guests. A daily podcast featuring the best bits from each show is also available from iTunes as is the podcast for all other Nova radio breakfast shows in Australia.

[edit] Segments

Popular segments on the show include "Coincidental Wednesday" which is when listeners send in funny or interesting coincidences to the show. Another popular segment is Letters To The Editor when listeners will send in letters about nearly anything from what has been discussed during that days show. Kate Langbroek normally tends to read the letters out loud using different voices to differentiate between males and females, and will normally make her voice come across in the way she believes the sender of the letter intends their letter to be read out loud in.

Hughesy Loses It is also a very funny and popular segment where Dave Hughes will be angry about something. Hughesy Loses It was also seen on Rove during 2007. There is now also a 'Katie Cracks It' segment in which Kate rants about something that has made her angry over the past few days. The segment begins with thunder and lightning, letting everyone know that Kate is furious and that she is about to crack.

During the Australian series of Big Brother in 2007, Hughesy and Kate talked to the latest housemates to be evicted the Monday morning after they have been evicted. And the host of Big Brother Australia Gretel Killeen also made appearances on the show occasionally.

Often Hughesy and Kate during the breakfast show will send out their assistance producer Nick somewhere in Melbourne to do something funny. Memorable moments include the Channel 7 Protest after Today Tonight showcased a story about Jeeps exploding into flames. Also they sent Nick with a guest that was earlier on their show to try and get the guest's Alpaca on a tram, but after several times of the Tram Officer not letting them on or not opening the doors or even just continuing to drive away, they gave up.
