Hugh Roberts

Sir Hugh Ashley Roberts KCVO, FSA, is director of the Royal Collection and Surveyor of the Queen's Works of Art. He was closely involved in the restoration of Windsor Castle after the serious fire in 1992.
He was previously a Director of Christie's and was head of the Decorative Arts Departments there. His particular area of expertise is French and English furniture and interior decoration of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, and he has written extensively on these subjects in Royal Collection exhibition catalogues and major journals.
On 13 December 1975, he married (Priscilla) Jane Stephanie Low, a daughter of the 1st Baron Aldington and they have two daughters.
