Hugh Percy, 10th Duke of Northumberland

Hugh Algernon Percy, 10th Duke of Northumberland KG, GCVO, KStJ ,PC, TD, FRS (April 6, 1914October 11, 1988) was the son of Alan Percy, 8th Duke of Northumberland and Lady Helen Gordon-Lennox.

He was commissioned into the Northumberland Hussars. In 1940, as a Lieutenant, he transferred to the Royal Artillery. In 1947, as a Captain, he transferred back to the Northumberland Hussars.

On June 12, 1946, he married Lady Elizabeth Diana Montagu-Douglas-Scott (daughter of Walter Montagu-Douglas-Scott, 8th Duke of Buccleuch — the Percys and the Douglases had been enemies for several centuries, this confirmed the new entente.
