J.L. Huffines Middle School is a junior high school in Lewisville, Texas. It educates around 1,000 students in grades 6-8 and is a part of the Lewisville Independent School District. The school was established in 1997. It has been ranked 287th out of 1511 Texas public middle schools (top 20%).[1] This is the school's tenth year anniversary. For their 2006-2007 school year's yearbook their theme and title was "It's All About 'U'"

The school received a national award, 'Best Middle School Newscast for 2006' by Channel One News, a daily news service for schools across the nation. The news is a big part of Huffines, and the report is called 'Channel 39 News'. It includes a lead and a sports report. Much of the news reporters (selected/auditioned students) appeared on Channel 1 with their opinion on school safety, during the 2006 first semester. There is a new cast each semester.[3][4]

Shaunea Alex (Class of 2010), who was an 8th grade student in 2006, was awarded 'The Student of the Month' for March 2006 by the Lewisville Area Chamber of Commerce.[5]
