[edit] Showcase (comic book)
The connection to Solo is a big stretch. Yeah, they're both anthologies, but as you said, they serve different purposes. There are lots of other anthologies that could be compared to Showcase (Dark Horse Presents, X-Men Unlimited, Digital Webbing Presents, etc.), but they're not Showcase, and that's what the article's about.
Has DC said that they're doing Showcase Presents to imitate Marvel's "Essentials" line, or that they were inspired by it? If not, we're not allowed to say that. Any time you try to say "why" something happened, you get in trouble with Wikipedia policy against including opinions and speculation, unless you can point to an independent and credible source that says so, and even then you should identify whose analysis you're quoting.

I've answered your comments on my own Talk page, since it was easier to do it point by point there. Tverbeek 18:23, 28 July 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Liefeld page deleteions
Looks to me like your post was wiped by accident. On July 21, user:Timrock inadvertently cut-and-pasted an entire copy of the talk page into itself, so everything except his most recent comment appeared twice. Here's the edit where it happened
http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:Rob_Liefeld&diff=next&oldid=19298860
With all the nonsense that was going on, nobody noticed the problem for several days. Your edit was in the (top) duplicate copy that was chopped out; most everybody else was posting at the end of the talk page, and I think admin Francs2000 just didn't see that your comment wasn't duplicated when cleaning up the page. Why don't you just go back into the history, and cut-and-paste it back into the current article. I'd do it for you, but it wouldn't be signed right, and with all the hoorah about editing other people's comments . . . N. Caligon 01:16, 29 July 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Category:Marvel Universe characters
- Characters aren't meant to be in both subcategories and supercategories - that is to say, they are not meant to be in categories which are a logical parent of a category they are already in.
- I note that Vance Astro and the other GotG members, at least (it's a long list), is actually not a MU character, but a character who resides in an alternate future of the MU, leading me to think you were somewhat... indiscriminate... in your selection, and that it is thus essentially a duplicate of Category:Marvel Comics characters. - SoM 21:35, 25 August 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Comics Collaboration of the Fortnight
As a member of WikiProject Comics, I thought you might be interested in the Comics Collaboration of the Fortnight we have set up. Please feel free to vote on the articles listed, although bear in mind that a vote for a particular article means you are pledging to help improve the article. The goal of the collaboration is to improve articles to Featured Article status, as we feel Comics is under-represented in that area. Thanks for your help. [edit] Copyvios
Where can one find good, useable pics for various Marvel pages? Oh, and FYI, lots more articles copy stuff directly from the MarvelDirectory, like the entry on the Eternals. Dr Archeville 18:49, 16 June 2006 (UTC)
- I mentioned other pages seemingly copying fromt he MarvelDatabase b/c, if those pages have been accepted, then it does set a precedent. If someone sees a page that's copied from the MarvelDirectory, and that no one's done anything about it, then one can easily be lead to believe that doing so is okay. Dr Archeville 19:06, 16 June 2006 (UTC)
- Wipe away, I'm just as ready/amenable to putting this all behind us as you ;-) . Dr Archeville 14:36, 18 June 2006 (UTC)
How does the Eternals (comics) article look now? Still pushing it? If so, lemme know and I'll remove what I added. Dr Archeville 21:08, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
I do appreciate your reply, and am always welcome to receiving constructive criticism (it just sometimes take a while to get it to penetrate my thick skull ;-) ). As for the Eternals article itself... I'm tempted to just leave it to others (hopefully more experienced others) to deal with, since there's no way I can obtain those 30-year-old issues to cite (and to my knowledge there are no reprints available). [edit] Hey
Please don't put that line about me contributing to Wikipedia in my bio page, if that was you who did it, I'm not entirely sure I understand the history tab. Anyway, it's hardly a significant fact, and I wasn't writing my own biography, I just deleted something that seemed out of place and added some facts. I wasn't aware that was some taboo, but I've since learned even something like that is basically frowned upon. But thanks for expanding all that stuff, you got things I long forgot about myself. That's why I love Wikipedia. -- Ed Brubaker 08:20, 8 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Orphaned non-free image (Image:AtlantisAttacksLogo.GIF)
Thanks for uploading Image:AtlantisAttacksLogo.GIF. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 20:43, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Avengers-345.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Avengers-345.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Lewis Collard! (baby i'm bad news) 20:57, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:FantasticFourAnnual22.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:FantasticFourAnnual22.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 07:00, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Comicraft
Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Comicraft, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. [edit] Image:AlfAnnual1.jpg

Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags/Non-free. [edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Quasar-32.jpg
Thank you for uploading Image:Quasar-32.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Amfan-16.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Amfan-16.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check
-
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
- That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.
