The Huaraz Pastoruri Touristic Circuit takes place within the Huascarán National Park and its sourrundings. It starts in Huaraz, followed by a 44 km of asphalt road until reaching the city of Pachacoto.
At km 350 of the modern highway Pativilca-Huaraz, there is a southeast detour. Once this road finished, we'll find the checkpoint of the Huascarán National Park. From this point and along the way, the Patococha lagoon is located, with a big variety of wild ducks. The strange plant called Puyas Raimondi can also be seen near the road. It can also be seen the spring of carbonated water called Pumapampa, which water has excellent flavour and some stomach properties, and the spring called Pumashimi, that has a singular beauty and attraction because of the visual effects of its water. These visual effects are mainly caused by the presence of microorganisms (algae) and the reflection of the sunrays.
Othe interesting places to visit in this touristic circuit are the Pumapashimin scenic viewpoint and the cave paintings. After 35 km from Pachacoto, the imposing Pastoruri snowcapped mountain. Pastoruri has 5220 m high and it is the place where many alpine skiing international competitions take place.
