[edit] Cricket images

Hello HTUK,

Welcome to Wikipedia!

Thank you for finding some photos of cricketers. But I'm afraid I doubt that we're allowed to use them. You tagged them as "promotional photos", but they're not promotional photos unless you got them from an official press pack. Images that you just found on a person's website are not promotional photos. You can read about this at Template:Promophoto and Wikipedia:Publicity photos.

I've marked them as "no licence" for the moment. This means that they will be deleted in a week, unless we can get permission to use them, or you can justify their use some other way. But most photos found on the web are copyright and it's simply illegal to use them.

I'm really sorry to do this to your first edits. The articles certainly look much better with photos, but as a very high profile website, we have to be especially careful about copyright law.

I hope this won't put you off and you'll still stick around and contribute to Wikipedia.

[edit] London Fire Brigade

I think the new sections are a good idea. My only word of caution, is that it would be better to try to find info that doesn't just come from the LFB's website, otherwise it's just replicating what's on there. I'd also avoid a trivia section as per the Metropolitan Police Service although there is some good stuff on here, and I've been involved in re-writing it to remove some of the 'plod speak'. I've also written a lot on the FDNY and that article has expanded considerably but is still very much written by ffs for ffs. I want to start a section on the LFB on call handling/communication, but I'm also working on an article called FiReControl and need to check how that relates to the LFB. Thanks for your comments. Escaper7 06:08, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

More: I've rejigged your new sections so they make better technical sense - no need for me to bang on about it, but you're right I do have considerable expertise in this area, so I hope you won't mind. It's simple and self explanatory.. have a look. Regards Escaper7 10:02, 31 August 2006 (UTC) ps: Let's keep future discussions on the article's talk page - I'm hoping more editors will chip in with comments.

[edit] Edit Conflict Met Police

Hi I'm trying to make a significant edit to the above - but we're both in the page. Can you save your changes and stop for a few miniutes pls? I need to add something that I've been working on for the past hour, then I'm done for now. Tks --Escaper7 12:17, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Empty pages

Please stop creating pages that just contain category tags. Write at least one sentence and mark it as a stub otherwise they'll just be deleted as empty under WP:CSD. Thanks. enochlau (talk) 17:40, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

No worries. I'll withhold from deleting them. Cheers. enochlau (talk) 17:44, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Lebedev

I was looking through the Mikhail Lebedev page and it seems to be vanity and non-notable to me. First of all, there is hardly any information about him on Google. Then, none of the publications seem to be news-worthy and notable. Finally, the scientist does not have many 1st author publications and seems to be non-important in his field. If you agree with me, can you please help me nominate Mikhail Lebedev for deletion? --GoOdCoNtEnT 08:45, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Project Underground

Hello HTUK! Thanks for showing interest in the project. If you want, you can join the project and we can work on the project together. Share ideas, including adding the other systems into the project. What do you think? Lenny 14:48, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for joining the project! Lenny 07:31, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
Update: Just noticed all the work you have put in to the project, Well Done!!! Lenny 07:42, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
First things first. The tag should go on all of LU and DLR articles. By means of adding |Underground=yes to the trains wikiproject tag or by adding our own tag. The second template has been made - membership. I know a lot about the rolling stock so that shouldn't be a problem. Lenny 14:55, 9 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Categorization

Wikipedia has very specific categorization rules. Namely, an article cannot be simultaneously filed in a category and that category's own parent categories. For example, a British radio comedy series is not simultaneously filed in Category:BBC radio comedy, Category:British radio comedy, Category:BBC radio programmes, Category:BBC radio and Category:Radio comedy, as all four of the later categories are already parents of Category:BBC radio comedy. You only file an article in the most specific available category within any given tree (i.e. Category:BBC radio comedy. This is not a negotiable rule. Bearcat 06:05, 12 September 2006 (UTC)

Sorry if it came across as aggressive; that wasn't my intention. I just find the categorization rules can be very difficult to explain effectively without unwittingly coming across kind of blunt. Bearcat 08:02, 12 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Photos of tube stations

I am always pleased to welcome a fellow editor interested in tube stations. However, I note that in the articles Wembley Park tube station and and Kingsbury tube station you deleted some of my photos without explanation. Obviously, you are fully entitled to dismiss any photo I have posted as worthless clutter and delete it, but it would have been nice to discuss these deletions on the talk pages first, to see if others agreed, or at least write an edit summary explaining your reasons.

On Willesden Green tube station, I reversed your edit, which had ruined the vertical alignment of the photos. I hope that you agree that it was not an improvement.

I look forward to seeing useful and productive edits from you on many tube station articles; if you can add some photos, so much the better.--Londoneye 11:35, 14 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Janet and John

Well done! A worthy addition to stand alongside Dick and Jane and Peter and Jane. -- ALoan (Talk) 18:45, 17 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Abandoned WP:LUL

There hasn't been much activity going on in WikiProject Underground, please add ACT next to your name in the list if you are still active in the project. Lenny 15:56, 20 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Here is your very own project

I hope you enjoy your new project, fixing it up, getting more members. I am giving you a project on trial to see if you can be better than me at it. It is not going anywhere with me and I chose you to have it as you were the first to join and have put more effort into my project. Enjoy while it lasts, do what you want. You also have the portal to complete the package. Me? I am going on a week long wikibreak to get rid of this pressure. See you soon! Unisouth 08:36, 24 September 2006 (UTC) PS: You can still reply as long as you do so today.

Great! To get more people you need to get people to know the project exists. The only way of doing so is to place the talkpage template on all LU, LO and DLR article talk pages and place the portal template on all LU articles. Hope you do well, bye! Unisouth 10:41, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
Lets pretend this never happened and remove the temporarily in charge tag. Unisouth 09:08, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
I tryed to get away from wikipedia but failed. So I am back. Unisouth 08:03, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Graham Walker

I've added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Graham Walker, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree, discuss the issues raised at Talk:Graham Walker. If you remove the {{dated prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Hope to see you Saturday, Poeloq (talk) 01:58, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Shuttleworth.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Shuttleworth.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:17, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:OnTheHour.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:OnTheHour.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Polly (Parrot) 22:22, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Clitheroe.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Clitheroe.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

This is an automated notice by FairuseBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. --00:48, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
