[edit] Referencing
Dear Htgoon,
Kudos for expanding the Penang article. However, please reference some of your statements. For example, your sentence about Penang being discovered by the Potuguese or the honorarium that the government pays Kedah. Wai Hong 12:02, 10 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Picture alignment
Hi, I like the pictures that you posted on the Penang article. However, try to align the pictures that you post so that the article doesn't look disorganized.
Besides, you seem very interested in topics relating to Penang. Have you thought of writing separate articles which have more detail on articles regarding Penang.--Wai Hong 13:05, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Other articles
Hi...thanks. I've similar thoughts about the alignment of the pics too but somehow they were re-arranged. Yeah, i've thought of writing something on Penang food and also I've started on my former school. Well, I'm thinking that there's a gap to be filled if we are to compare the Penang article with articles on other major cities in the world. Keep up the good work!

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Dharmikara Burmese Temple.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Dharmikara Burmese Temple.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}
.
Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Bkell (talk) 03:19, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Mpsplogo.gif)
This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:Mpsplogo.gif. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image can be used under a fair use license. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. —Bkell (talk) 03:19, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Unspecified source for Image:ShippingTobacco pg.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:ShippingTobacco pg.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Bkell (talk) 03:19, 6 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Oldpg2.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Oldpg2.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 20:51, 12 June 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. BigrTex 20:51, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Copyright status of Image:Hsbc.jpg
Please do not post copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder, as you did to Image:Hsbc.jpg. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites (http://www.johnnyroadtrip.com/cities/buffalo/arena.htm in this case) or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:
-
- If you have permission from the author leave a message explaining the details on the article Talk page and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
- If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or released into the public domain leave a note at Talk:Image:Hsbc.jpg with a link to where we can find that note;
- If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on the article Talk page. Alternatively, you may create a note on your web page releasing the work under the GFDL and then leave a note at Talk:Image:Hsbc.jpg with a link to the details.
Otherwise, you are encouraged to rewrite this article in your own words to avoid any copyright infringement.
It is also important that all Wikipedia articles have an encyclopedic tone and follow Wikipedia article layout. For more information on Wikipedia's policies, see Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
