[edit] Image:VictoriaLePagecropped.jpg

Hi. I noticed while going through images tagged for deletion that you stated that you are the author of Image:VictoriaLePagecropped.jpg. Did you actually take this photograph yourself or did you crop a photo taken by someone else? Please understand that the creator of a work controls all rights to make derivatives of it, so we would not be able to use this photo if it is just a modification of someone else's work.

If you did take the photograph yourself, please indicate that on the image description page. (If you are the webmaster of the site where this image came from, just say so - that would help clear things up.)

If you did not take it, we need to ask the copyright holder for permission before we can use it. Wikipedia only accepts images that are released under a free license, meaning, one that explicitly allows anyone to use it for any reason, including commercial works. Please see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for information on asking for permission. --BigDT 14:20, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] le page 'notability'

hi, have replaced delete with request to establish notability. the link on that explains what you need to do. gist of it is 'multiple independent references', so not her website, & i'm not sure about the 2 others. ideally references frm more 'mainstream' media wld be good. editors tend to take a dim view of this sort of thing, so you'll need to make it as 'bullet-proof' as you possibly can. good luck :) ben  ⇒ bsnowball  12:17, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Significance

Thank you all for your comments and instructions. I've confirmed that I've taken the image and that it is in public domain. As for 'multiple independent references', I can only provide links to commentaries and reviews which are freely available on the net under "Shambhala" and so on, often in many other languages. I have asked her if she knows of another biography as such and she could only quote me references to her works that other authors in the same genre have cited. The 2 external references that I've included, one is print media with a net presence and the other (I think) is not. She also has 2 publishers. Quest books and Inner Traditions, both specializing in esoteric works.

What eludes me, is 'significance'. When is a published and recognised author not significant? Perhaps there is a section in Wikipedia that would be more suitable that Biography? I'll have a look but I think I may need guidance on this. I've taken the steps of adding some of her (secretive) life story in Wikipedia, as she qualifies by writing original works on topics of interest. I'm NOT a fan, but a trained historian, and I (and others) find her works thought provoking, well researched and obviously of interest to others. Htcs 02:18, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
