In the top 100 hits for a Google search on the term "hpv" there are 95 hits for pages related to human papillomaviruses and only 4 hits for human powered vehicle-related pages. I therefore think it's sensible to redirect searches for "hpv" or "HPV" directly to the human papillomavirus article. A standard redirect link at the top of the human papillomavirus page points people interested in other possible meanings of "HPV" to this standard disambiguation page. [edit] It's still an abbreviation
Even though HPV is more commonly known as "Human papillomavirus", it is still an abbreviation, and should be treated as such, with an initial search results page displaying all the different and most common meanings for that acronym. I would, instead of creating an automatic redirect page, list the different meanings in order from most common to least common, so people have a choice.
