[edit] WWE Cyber Sunday problems

I noticed you posted on the talk page about this issue, so maybe you could help? I'm getting fed up with TJ Spyke. The main event is called Champion of Champions. It's been said on WWE television many times, it's the official name of the match. So, for whatever reason.. TJ (among others) have been reverting my changes back. Money in the Bank is a ladder match, but it's called Money in the Bank ladder. In his recent change of my edit "(It IS mentioned, its gone in 2 days anyways. RR and MITB are unique, this is just a triple threat match)" is his edit summary. Champion of Champions is just as unique, even if its a one time match. There is absolutely no reason to ignore the official name and just call it a triple threat. The event is in 2 days, and I can imagine others will be renaming the match to it's official title, and TJ/others will revert it back. I've posted on TJ's talk page, and gotten no response, so I tried that route. Any suggestions? RobJ1981 04:25, 4 November 2006 (UTC)

We're discussing this at Talk:WWE Cyber Sunday. --Howard the Duck 04:33, 4 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] You have new messages

You know, this fools anyone. (the note in your user page) Why do you want it to stay? - 125.60.241.23 07:27, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

For the record, it wasn't me that reverted you. Check the history. And, that's the point why I added it there. --Howard the Duck 08:12, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
Why do you still need it? - 202.81.173.247 13:29, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
Why don't we just create an encyclopedia and leave userpages alone, don't we? --Howard the Duck 13:36, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
Well, I can't. What's your excuse? - 202.81.175.41 01:03, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
If you can't create an encyclopedia and leave userpages alone, then I see no reason on making an excuse; and you're wasting Wikipedia's bandwidth replying to this discussion. --Howard the Duck 02:39, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Let's vote for Mariano Trias

Hey there Howard the Duck! I would like to ask for your vote for the article of Mariano Trias in Wikipedia's Article Creation and Improvement Drive.

I believe that this article still needs a bit of clean-up and expansion. I hope you would vote for the article in this link.

Thanks a lot!!! ---- Kevin Ray 08:31, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

1/3 of all congressmen. --Howard the Duck 03:21, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
Yeah i know, but the verbatim 79 votes are needing on impeaching an official Scorpion prinz 14:07, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
Argh, you should've been direct to the point :p Should've been "79 votes are needed..." I'll fix this. --Howard the Duck 14:09, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Sandugo and Sandugo Festival

Please comment on whether there is a need to make a separate article for the Blood Compact/Sandugo and a separate one for the Sandugo Festival.--Pinay06 08:41, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re your message below -

You can submit this at DYK so that this'll be included at the Main Page. --Howard the Duck 10:13, 22 November 2006 (UTC) Retrieved from "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Sandugo_Festival"

What do you mean? Please explain. Sorry, What is DYK? Pinay06 10:40, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
How do you do that? Can you, please? Thanks.--Pinay06 10:50, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
I'd rather let you do it, or else I'll get credit. The instructions are at Wikipedia:Did you know. --Howard the Duck 11:07, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

I did the DYK on sandugo, as suggested, though I don't know if I did it right. Please check for me. Thanks. --Pinay06 16:42, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

That submission was good. Just wait if the admins think it's good enough for the Main Page. They'd send you a message if it enters the Main Page. --Howard the Duck 05:28, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Is it just Filipino?

The blood pact is a staple feature in many Chinese kung-fu movies. Borisblue 07:09, 24 November 2006 (UTC)

Any idea on how I should respond to this? --Pinay06 07:36, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
I dunno, I haven't been watching kung-fu movies. Perhaps its purpose (in China) is different. --Howard the Duck 07:38, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
Well, it simply is not within the scope of the article, so we won't know...--Pinay06 02:07, 25 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Reading the fine print.

On-going talk IRT the following: "Template:Philippines_political_divisions"

| Nueva
Vizcaya |

is still breaking onto the next line I'm using firefox to display with standard font size.
Not everyone uses normal fonts if they increase&/decrease the viewing size then it's possible that other names will break onto the next line.
Also FireFox, Opera, Internet Explorer & other Browsers can all display pages differently. I was just trying to make this block of text displayed, to be easy'r to read without that much change to it's format! (I also don't really like a horizontal list with a small font size and align-center) I think that it should be in an 3 or 4 colummar vertical list, but that is too time consuming <especially with edit-reverts> for me now.

--It's also my Yahoo! ID:Mkouklis 11:52, 24 November 2006 (UTC)

Ok, I missed out La Union, Nueva Ecija and Nueva Vizcaya. It'll look better now. --Howard the Duck 14:43, 24 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Metro Manila map

Here you go! Also, you should be able to color this properly in MS Paint this time (instead of red becoming dark gray like last time). I've also re-uploaded the blank Philippines map to fix that problem. Coffee 05:09, 26 November 2006 (UTC)

Yehey! Thanks a lot. --Howard the Duck 05:10, 26 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Sepaktakraw

Howard, it was brought up by another user that it is a single word. The Asian Games website lists it as a single word, so unless you can come up with something from an official site saying otherwise, we should stick with a single word. Ludahai 08:02, 26 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Sources for Screenshots in List of Maging Sino Ka Man episodes?

Hi. I noticed that all my screenshots for the List of Maging Sino Ka Man episodes article have now been tagged as having no source. Could you kindly advise -- what is the best approach for providing a valid source for these screenshots?

I didn't copy them off of a website. I made the screenshots myself since I have recorded the episodes for personal viewing. Hope you'll pardon my ignorance. CFan 08:13, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

You better indicate program you used, the date and time it was screencapped, the frame number and the permission from ABS-CBN. See also these: Wikipedia:Fair use/Fair use images in lists and Talk:List of Lost episodes/Use of images. --Howard the Duck 08:22, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for the quick reply. When you say "date and time it was screencapped", do you mean the actual date and time I did the screencapture or the actual date and time when it aired on live TV? The former is doable, since I have a copy of the images and the harddisk time stamp should take care of it. The latter is not feasible, though. Frame number too, is not doable, at least not with my software -- since it doesn't indicate the frame number anywhere. I'm willing to write ABS-CBN and get permission to use the screenshots on Wikipedia, but I don't think I'll get a response in seven days. This is most disheartening. :-( CFan 08:50, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
Perhaps you have them saved on your hard disk? There's a way to get around this, you can create a Geocities website (there are perhaps many fansites for this program, try contacting them too), and then ask them to save these images so that the source will be those websites. Or you can use Coppermine, etc. Upload them there, then make them your source.--Howard the Duck 09:05, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
Yes, I have them all on my hard disk (I am very much a pack-rat! haha!) And yes, this approach sounds doable in 7 days! Thanks so much for the tip. I will check out Coppermine, and if not, there's always Blogger or Geocities. Thank you again! CFan 09:13, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Map factoid.jpg

How was this deleted? Was this listed at PUI or IFD? IMHO, if it didn't pass through those channels I demand that the screencapbe undeleted and undergo at deletion discussion. --Howard the Duck 07:49, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

Well, Ral315 was technically right in deleting it. American fair use law only is applicable when the image in question is used to illustrate in an editorial context, aka the article space. I've undeleted for the time being, but I recommend uploading it to a file hosting service, and just linking to there. -- Zanimum 14:27, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
But it was used in the ABS-CBN and Magandang Umaga, Pilipinas articles, to provide editorial commentary. It wasn't solely used on the noticeboard. I hope you'd reconsider. --Howard the Duck 15:59, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] List of Olympic medalists for the Philippines

I believe this page should be merged into Philippines at the Summer Olympics for two reasons:

  1. It will give the content more visibility, since the "Nation at the Summer Olympics" pages are the main articles for each nation's Olympic history, and have navigation tools to find them.
  2. Both of these pages are of sufficient size to make the merge worthwhile.

I believe that your comparison to Australian Olympic medalists in Swimming is faulty. That article is already too big (at 60 kb) and cannot be merged. A better comparison is to Ireland at the Summer Olympics and Trinidad and Tobago at the Summer Olympics, where similar successful merges took place already.

Lastly, I object to your removal of the merge banner from the page after it was up for all of three minutes. You do not "own" that article, and therefore, cannot "deny" the request. Please allow some discussion to take place. Andrwsc 05:36, 2 December 2006 (UTC)

Then do whatever you want. I was planning to develop the page into WP:FL standard, but you do the call. I believe the list can be expanded. --Howard the Duck 05:39, 2 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] All about the University of Santo Tomas.

Hey Howard the Duck, I can't seem to find a list of the past and present rectors of UST. I want to have the list as an inclusion in UST's wikipedia article. The list of the past seals of UST is also great as an addition but like the rector's list, it can't be found anywhere in the web. The past seals are published in the UST Annual, The Thomasian 1962. I have already asked the UST EdTech Center to secure me these lists but as of now, the center hasn't given me anything even a reply.

Can you help me find these additional information all for the promotion of UST's rich historical past. nb:If you would give me a reply, I am not sure where to find it, so it would be better for me if you'h just give me a mail. Thank You.

Go USTe! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Pampi1010 (talkcontribs) 11:43, 4 December 2006 (UTC).

There was a full list at MB's Philippine Panorama during UST's foundation week. I'd try to get a copy for next year. --Howard the Duck 11:45, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

I also want to have the photo of the UST Arch of Centuries on the Campus Section changed but I don't know how to. The current photo doesn't do any good.Ü

I'd take a pic of the main building one of these days... --Howard the Duck 11:53, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

Nice Pictures. Are you the one who took them? Pampi1010 11:10, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

The pics were recently changed. I didn't upload/took them. --Howard the Duck 11:31, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] My thoughts on that basketball uniform

I just wanted to let you know my thoughts on the basketball uniform. First of all, the transparent jersey was just a way to use the football kit stuff. But it does not in theory have to be completely transparent. We could have another pattern on it, e.g. for the team name, that could sit on top of the football jersey pattern. What do you think? Also, the idea of patterns on the shorts is a good one but one that has been met with some resistance over at the football kit. But there's no technical reason it can't be done. Rolando 12:57, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

Although adding team names would be nice, it'd be on the borders of fair use so it's probably not a good idea. As for patterns on short, could there be a way to make it independent from the football kit templates? As far as I know most football shorts don't have patterns on them, while basketball shorts and American football uniforms have patterns. --Howard the Duck 06:18, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Impeachment in the Philippines

Hi! I placed this message in the talk page, too. Here are some valuable resources for this article:

[edit] Meycauayan, Bulacan

Hello! Regarding Meycauayan, Bulacan...it's officially a city by today. We had the plebiscite today, and the "yes" votes won today. By the way, I live in Meycauayan, and my cousin (a public school teacher) was at the municipal hall when the final canvass ended =) --- Tito Pao 19:27, 10 December 2006 (UTC)

Is it published yet? Until it's not published its original research. --Howard the Duck 02:52, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
Hot off the presses...it's here :-) I would have also wanted to add something about how small the voter turnout was, how small the margin was and (dig this) how the entire plebiscite was cast under suspicion (long story)...but that would be an NPOV issue, so I'll leave the Meycauayan article as is. --- Tito Pao 18:43, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
If you could have cite those controversies, we might as well have a Meycauayan cityhood plebiscite, 2006 (and a Dinagat Islands creation plebiscite, 2006, too). --Howard the Duck 07:18, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
You've hit right to the point. I'd love to write about that. But---and this is the most frustrating part---there's too little press about it. The only Google hits that mention the town city mayor refer to very, very old articles which don't have anything to do about the plebiscite. So I can't write about it. --- Tito Pao 08:10, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
Might there be local newspapers? The elections are near so they suddenly increase in number, lol. --Howard the Duck 08:12, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
I'm not sure if the municipal city government (okay, I'm still getting a hang-over) publishes a newsletter or something. But even if they did, would it make a good source? I mean, heck, it would be surely written by the mayor's personnel, and any such newsletter would surely fail all possible criteria for WP acceptance---among which include NPOV and original research ;) --- Tito Pao 23:48, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
Perhaps a journal from the opposite view will be sufficient enough to counter the POV of the proponents. --Howard the Duck 09:06, 13 December 2006 (UTC)
Hmmm...okay, napag-uusapan na rin lang: There is indeed something like an "opposition movement" not just against the cityhood plebiscite but on various items as well (something short of a cross between an underground movement, an almost-political-party and a cabal). They don't have a web presence (primarily because they're made up of local businessmen and professionals who are not Net-savvy), but they do disseminate some reading materials (pamphlets and flyers among others). My only concern is that their materials might be considered original research or self-published materials. What do you think? --- Tito Pao 16:07, 13 December 2006 (UTC)
They won't be original research since it wasn't you who did the research. Well, that's my opinion, but if you do go ahead and create the article and use them as references, and if no one objects, then it'll be okay. --Howard the Duck 06:50, 14 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Jaro

Looks like Jaro is a part of Iloilo city. See Jaro, Iloilo City. --Chris S. 08:05, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

Perhaps the other article be merged/redirect then? --Howard the Duck 08:07, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
I merged the two. Jaro, Iloilo now redirects to Jaro, Iloilo City. --Chris S. 08:13, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
Thanks, but one last question: is Jaro a defunct town? Like Tondo being absorbed by Manila? --Howard the Duck 08:14, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
I don't know for sure, but it looks like it. --Chris S. 13:21, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
Ok. Thanks. --Howard the Duck 09:06, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Image:Basketball positions.png

Yes, though it's not uploaded anywhere.

That image was based on Image:Basketball court dimensions.png, which was made by someone else; all I did was chop it in half, remove the labels and stick my own on it.

Please reply on my talk page if necessary. Neonumbers 08:10, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

I can, but if it helps, you can just use Paint (use the pick colour tool to set the background colour to that brown colour by right-clicking it, then use the eraser tool) to scrub out the text and labels you don't want. To get from the first image to my one, I pretty much just used Paint and played around with it.
I would prefer not to upload it if it will not be directly used on any articles.
Please tell me if you still want it uploaded. Neonumbers 08:21, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Request for help

Hi, Howard. If you have the time, please check the recent changes made to the Xavier School article. A new user has added information and images, and has made edits which are non-neutral and full of boosterism. We'd like a third opinion to help reach consensus. Thanks. Rmcsamson 12:08, 14 December 2006 (UTC)

I've posted at the talk page, although admittedly I know nothing about this. Will try, though. --Howard the Duck 12:12, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
