Template talk:Howtoreqphotoin
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Once the string functions are installed (see bugzilla:6455) then there would be no need for the template to take parameters, the main text could simply be set to something like: (and I think you have to view this page in "edit" mode to actually understand what I mean)
For articles about subjects in {{#sub:Howtoreqphotoin|33|{{#len:Howtoreqphotoin}}}} needing a photograph, use {{reqphoto|in={{#sub:Howtoreqphotoin|33|{{#len:Howtoreqphotoin}}}}}} in the talk page, which adds the article to Template talk:Howtoreqphotoin. You can help Wikipedia by uploading freely licensed photographs for these articles to Wikimedia Commons.
This would make the parameters irrelevant. TheGrappler 19:04, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
- Bearing in mind that it's full of complicated stuff, sticking on an {{Intricate template}} warning and putting this stuff inside includeonly tags would be a good idea...TheGrappler 19:35, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] {{GeoGroupTemplate}}
Is there a particular reason why {{GeoGroupTemplate}} is transcluded in this template (and why in includeonly mode)? Why would a geolinks template show up in a "how to" sentence? --Qyd 15:48, 13 November 2007 (UTC)
- As this particular implementation only works in Category space, I've modified the template to display it only there. --Qyd 16:09, 16 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] GeoGroupTemplate
I've been looking at articles in Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in Minnesota. Only a small number of them show up in the "map of all coordinates". I thought it had to do with coor vs. coord, but I modified some of them and can't seem to get them all to work. Do you you why some show up and others don't?--Appraiser (talk) 23:36, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
- Not really, try asking at the talk page for the geogroup template? I know it works in a relatively complicated way (it only consists of an external link, but the data is processed using the toolserver in a way that I don't understand). Sorry not to be more helpful! But at least it's useful for those items that do make it on to the map. TheGrappler (talk) 23:55, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Categorization
This template is currently a member of Category:WikiProject banners. However, WikiProject banners are templates that WikiProjects put onto article talk pages, in order to assign the article to their projects. This particular template seems to serve a different purpose. I propose that the category should be removed. --B. Wolterding (talk) 16:43, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
- I'm assuming silent consensus for this change. Will change the template (or rather the doc subpage) accordingly. --B. Wolterding (talk) 11:43, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Protected?
{{editprotected}} In a slight abuse of the "editprotected" banner: This template (Howtoreqphotoin) bears the "permanent protection" icon on the top, but it's not actually protected, and has never been (according to the logs). I'm not sure whether it should be protected, but could some admin sort this out? (Either remove the protection icon, or actually protect the page.) --B. Wolterding (talk) 11:50, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
