From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Template:Howtoedit is permanently protected from editing, as it is a heavily used or visible template.

Substantial changes should be proposed here, and made by administrators if the proposal is uncontroversial, or has been discussed and is supported by consensus. Use {{editprotected}} to attract the attention of an administrator in such cases.
This template does not have a documentation subpage. If the template page contains categories, interwiki links or usage notes, move these to Template:Howtoedit/doc. If the template does not require documentation, add |doc=no to this template ({{permprot}}).

[edit] Awkward phrase

{{editprotected}} Trivial awkward phrasing:

You may use {{editprotected}} on the talk page to ask for an administrator to make an edit for you.

I think it is not particularly awkward. Removing the word for makes the sentence imply that you are somehow directly asking an administrator, which isn't true; you are making a request for administrative assistance. If it needs to be rephrased, I would say "You may use editprotected on the talk page to ask for an edit to be made by an administrator." CMummert ยท talk 01:41, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
I do think it's a touch awkward, and I don't think the distinction is important; but it's also too trivial to waste anybody's time debating. There are far more needy articles out there. (tl'ing template.) | Pat 04:12, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
