From Towns_of_Howrah page. Removed places where there are no tourist attractions and the places which are far from Howrah City. Towns_of_Howrah page should be removed now. —Preceding unsigned comment added by GDibyendu (talkcontribs) 17:01, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Link removed

I've removed http://thehowrahhotel.com as it links to a commercial site (hotel). --Victor 20:38, 24 June 2006 (UTC)

I removed the whole section (as an anon). You can't mention only one hotel and still be NPOV! Potatoswatter 22:00, 26 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Articles Haora and Howrah

This is quite ridiculous. Haora and Howrah (হাওড়া in Bengali) is the SAME place! What is the point in having two articles if you can just COMBINE them! Has anyone thought of this?

"Note: In Bengali there is no V or W; both are replaced with a hard "B" or "Bh" - Very Well is pronounced "Bherry Bhell" by most Bengalis. Hence the name Shibpur and not Shivpur."

This is a shame, shibpur is the name of the place as they pronounce it, not because of any etymological issue. And furthermore what the writer means by saying bengali has no "v" or "W" ? does he/she mean the Germanic alphabets ? or the exact sound pronounced by some group of people at some place ? if it is the second then which place ? Does it mean that in Bengali one does not have the German W thats why shibpur is called shibpur otherwise it would have been called abraca-dabra. Or should we mention that if Dutch did not have the corresponding sound h unlike French it would have been called olland ? Its highly stereotyped and presumptuous on the part of the writer to write such claims which ofcourse has no basis. Jeroje 05:40, 22 January 2007 (UTC)jeroje
