During his tenure in all the offices he served in, Howell Heflin was well liked by all those he came in contact with and this issue of personality is left out of this article and should be a feature - esp where positive - of all bio's. In 20 years in the US Senate,this exemplary character of Heflin is reflected in his chairing the Senate Ethics Committee.
