Howland Center is a census-designated place (CDP) in Trumbull County, Ohio, United States. The population was 6,481 at the 2000 census.

Howland Center is located at 41°14′43″N, 80°44′36″W (41.245206, -80.743315)[3].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 4.0 square miles (10.5 km²), all of it land.

As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 6,481 people, 2,462 households, and 1,925 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 1,605.9 people per square mile (619.4/km²). There were 2,565 housing units at an average density of 635.6/sq mi (245.1/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 95.45% White, 1.67% African American, 0.06% Native American, 1.57% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.17% from other races, and 1.06% from two or more races. 0.80% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There were 2,462 households out of which 32.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 66.9% were married couples living together, 8.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 21.8% were non-families. 19.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 7.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.60 and the average family size was 2.98.

In the CDP the population was spread out with 23.8% under the age of 18, 6.0% from 18 to 24, 25.6% from 25 to 44, 29.5% from 45 to 64, and 15.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 42 years. For every 100 females there were 95.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.6 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP was $52,317, and the median income for a family was $59,485. Males had a median income of $42,278 versus $29,232 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $24,180. 2.0% of the population and 1.2% of families were below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 0.8% of those under the age of 18 and 5.5% of those 65 and older were living below the poverty line.
