Howell Webster Melton, Sr. (born 1923 in Atlanta, Georgia).

Howell Melton is currently a judge for the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida. It should also be noted he served in the U.S. Army from 1943 - 1946. He was in private practice in St. Augustine, Florida from 1948 until 1961, when he was first appointed a Judgeship. In 1977 he was appointed by President Jimmy Carter to serve as a United States District Judge.

Melton graduated from the University of Florida in 1943 with his Associates degree. He received his Juris Doctorate from the Levin College of Law at UF in 1948.
