Howard Nusbaum

Howard C. Nusbaum (born August 18, 1956 in Canton, Ohio) is currently the President and CEO of the American Resort Development Association (ARDA). ARDA is a non-profit trade association, located in Washington, D.C., representing the interests of over 1,600 resorts, including second home resorts, vacation timeshare developers, fractional interests as well as timeshare homeowners' associations and individual timeshare owners across the country.
Prior to joining ARDA in the summer of 2000, Nusbaum was the Director of Corporate and Industry Relations for the American Hotel & Lodging Association as well as Executive Vice President of the Ohio Hotel & Lodging Association. Before joining the world of association management in 1990, Nusbaum was Vice President of Marketing for The Beck Group (now known as Janus Hotels and Resorts), a hotel management company with 50 hotels and motels.
Nusbaum is a Founding Fellow of The American Hotel & Lodging Association Educational Foundation as well as a past Trustee of the Educational Institute of the American Hotel & Lodging Association. In 1994, Nusbaum received the Educational Institute's "Lamp of Knowledge" for his development of hospitality training programs.
The Ohio Vocational Education Association twice named Nusbaum “Person of the Year” for his work with the Family and Consumer Sciences Division in developing a curriculum for secondary hospitality students. The Ohio Vocational Education Association again recognized Nusbaum as “Person of the Year” in 1997 for his development of the very successful HOST Welfare-to-Work Program. He is a graduate of the Institute for Organization Management, a six-year program for Association Executives held at University of Notre Dame.
In his role as a hotel association executive, Nusbaum twice served his peer state hotel association executives as Chairman of the International Society of Hotel Association Executives (ISHAE). (http://www.tbr.org/about/nusbaum.htm)
Prior to joining OH&LA, Nusbaum was employed as vice president of sales and marketing for the Beck Group Hotel Management Company (now Janus Hotels & Resorts).
Nusbaum received a bachelor's degree in fine arts and media from the University of Cincinnati. He is also a 1996 graduate of the Institute for Organizational Management, a six-year program for association executives held at the University of Notre Dame. In addition, he is a member of the American of Society of Association Executives and serves on their Marketing Council.
