Howard Davies (theatre director)

Howard Davies (born 1945) is a noted Welsh director, best known for his theatre work.

He is currently an Associate Director of Britain's National Theatre (where his work has included Paul, 2005) and has previously been Associate Director for both the Almeida and the Royal Shakespeare Company.

Three of his productions have been nominated for Tony awards: Les Liaisons Dangereuses (1987), The Iceman Cometh (1999) and Private Lives (2002). He has been awarded two Laurence Olivier Theatre Awards for best director: The Iceman Cometh (1998), All My Sons (2001) and nominated for Private Lives (2002).

Davies is the son of a miner. He is married to the actress Claire Holman, with whom he has a number of children.
