"How the Ghosts Stole Christmas" was the sixth episode of the sixth season of The X-Files science-fiction television series created by Chris Carter, as well as a Christmas-themed episode of the series.

Mulder calls Scully on Christmas Eve to investigate a haunted house. The house is the former residence of Maurice and Lyda, two star-crossed lovers who performed a murder/suicide pact years ago. While in the house, Mulder and Scully encounter traps set up by the mysterious couple. Eventually, Maurice and Lyda (Asner and Tomlin) perform their usual Christmas tradition and try to convince the FBI agents to kill each other.

• The film version of A Christmas Carol that Mulder is watching is the 1951 version starring Alastair Sim.
• This episode has the smallest cast of any episode of the series, with only David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson, Ed Asner, and Lily Tomlin.
