How Long is the title of a song, recorded and written in 1972, by rock music artist J. D. Souther. The song was recorded on his 1972 album John David Souther but not released as a single.
In 2007, rock band the Eagles recorded the song for their album Long Road Out of Eden, the group's first full studio album since 1979. The Eagles' version has entered four major Billboard charts to date; it is also their second Top 40 single on the U.S. country charts.[citation needed] In the UK, it was not released as a CD single; however, because of the album topping the charts the track became the most popular on the album and thanks to downloads it managed to peak at 94 on the UK charts.
On 10 February 2008 the Eagles version of the song won the Grammy Award for Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal.
