How Do They Do That? was a 1990s British television show, produced by Reg Grundy Productions and broadcast on BBC One. Originally presented by Des Lynam and Jenny Hull, it explored feats of engineering, organization, and special effects. Each season opened with a stunt apparently performed by one of the presenters, such as a skydiver crash-landing into the studio, a car chase, or the entire studio being washed away.
After several seasons, Eamonn Holmes took over as male presenter. However, this transition was unsuccessful. The viewing figures fell from a regular 9 million viewers to less than 5 million viewers. At its height, How Do They Do That? had an amazing 12 million viewers watching on Wednesday nights (a notoriously difficult slot to fill midweek.) It ran five seasons until Jenny Hull followed Des Lynam and left. Eamonn Holmes was joined by Esther Mcvey but it was a short-lived partnership.
