Hovden

The name Hovden is derived from two words. One meaning comes from the Norse word for head (hovud). In connection to a name, this refers to a steep, overhanging mountain or cliff in the vicinity. The second meaning is derived from the Norse word for sacrificial site; hov.
Hovden may refer to several places in Norway:
- Hovden in Bykle, Aust-Agder, home to the locally renowned Hovden Ski Resort
- Hovden in Bø, Nordland
- Hovden in Ørsta, Møre og Romsdal
