If you have ever been to downtown Chicago during morning rush hour you would understand. You can't drive because of pedestrian traffic. If Chicago had a system like this it would make downtown life a lot easier.

I will try to compile some information about closed or "dead" tunnels within the Houston DTS. If I am not mistaken, there may be older tunnels closed to the public. Jay77tx 00:40, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

Is "Houston Downtown Tunnel System" an official name? If not, the article should probably be moved to Houston downtown tunnel system. -SCEhardT 02:22, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
I don't believe there is any official name; they are just "the tunnels." There's no name given in the NYT article linked above, and, according to the same article, all the tunnels are privately owned by the respective building owners. There's no "system", and it's confusing to get around even if you have a map. I've found that most Houstonians are surprised to learn of the existence of the tunnels when I've mentioned them in conversation.--AntarcticFox (talk) 17:34, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
