[edit] pronunciation

It'd be interesting to see a narrow IPA phonetic transcription. The articulation of the /t/, in both Geordie and southern English would be of particular interest. Also, mightn't the vowel be a diphthong and the final /n/ syllabic, rather than being preceded by a schwa?

The current IPA is already narrow. /oː/ is not a sound in standard English pronunciation - should this be /ɔː/? — Paul G 11:11, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
Without disambiguation, pronunciations are assumed to be generic English, so I'm fixing it up that way. If you want to show the local accent, please say that overtly. kwami (talk) 19:50, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

This info was in Houghton-le-Spring and I have relocated it here. Hope it's OK. SuzanneKn (talk) 17:31, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
