House Hunters is an American television series that airs at 10:00pm nightly (and in reruns at various other times) on the cable television network Home & Garden Television, aka HGTV. House Hunters remains the highest rated show on HGTV.
Hosted by Suzanne Whang, the program follows individuals, couples, or families searching for a new home with the assistance of a realtor. Each broadcast features three properties, one of which is selected by the prospective buyer, whose offer generally is accepted by the seller. In the final moments of the show, the new owner provides a tour of the house, revealing what changes and/or improvements were made after moving in.
In early seasons of the series, prices and locations were never mentioned. The viewing audience is now privy to the amounts being asked for each house or condominium.
Star Jones Reynolds hosted 5 episodes of the show and drew its highest ratings.
In the earlier episodes, the last part of the show featured the buyer waiting to see if they got the house they decided on. Now, each episode ends with which of the three houses they chose and their lives after moving in. Usually, the show goes back months later to tape the segment. On rare occassions, the buyer does not get the house they wanted and have to choose another option.
A recently-added international version of the show, also hosted by Whang, has concentrated on properties in Europe, the Caribbean, Central America and Argentina.
