Houghton Public School is an elementary school in Norfolk County, Ontario, Canada that is a feeder school to Valley Heights Secondary School. The school is located in the small hamlet of Fairground, Ontario, Canada. Children attend this school from kindergarten to the eighth grade. It is considered to be the westernmost elementary school in Norfolk County and it takes over 30 minutes to drive from Houghton Public School to Simcoe or Tillsonburg.
The school is a part of the Grand Erie District School Board and was formerly a part of the Norfolk Board of Education. The school is located in the heart of the tobacco belt. Many nationalities live in this area; however the majority of the occupants have a german mennonite background. However, the school has electricity and computers for staff, administration and students. Bathrooms and cafeteria are located on the main floor. There is also a special education program on the premises. English is the school's official language and the affiliation of this school is secular. The students at Houghton are the best students in the board especially Mrs. Hamm's class.
