Talk:Hot Rod (Transformers)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I added, what I think is a more general, and encyclopedic entry to the beginning of this entry. I don’t think a description of the movie really belongs here, unless there is any objections I will remove it. --Plicease 15:25, 18 Jan 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Model
I know that it states that Hot Rod is a modified Pontiac Firebird, but I think that he either resembles a Lamborghini Countach or a Lamborghini Diablo. Which do you think? Monksbane 8:02, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
I agree. I see no resemblance to the Pontiac at all. Without a doubt the vehicular mode of Hot Rod is inspired by the Countach.
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Autobot logo s.jpg
Image:Autobot logo s.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 21:58, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Hot Rod (Transformers) vs. Rodimus

[edit] Move request
I am going to place a request on [1] for this page to be moved to Hot Rod (Transformers), as naming conflict suggests the common name (Hot Rod) takes precedence over Rodimus as it has been used far more in the surrounding fiction (including the most modern IDW comics). Feel free to discuss it there. SMegatron 14:09, 27 October 2007 (UTC)
- Hi, I'm here from Requested moves. I'm looking at the edit histories of Rodimus and Hot Rod (Transformers), and it appears that, at the beginning of August, the article was cut-and-pasted from the latter title to the former. Thus, most of the article's history, going back to December 2004, is located under the history tab at Hot Rod (Transformers). We'll want to patch the history back together, and I've already started some of the merge work ([2]). I'd like to be sure which title we'll be using before I do any more.
I'm posting a note to the user who previously moved the article to Rodimus, so we can be sure we're acting with consensus. It appears that a relevant guideline is WP:COMMONNAME: "Except where other accepted Wikipedia naming conventions give a different indication, use the most common name of a person or thing that does not conflict with the names of other people or things." Do we go with the unambiguous but less common "Rodimus", or with the more common name "Hot Rod", which requires disambiguation? -GTBacchus(talk) 21:51, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
I had moved SOME of the information to this page, as there are TWO Transformers named Hot Rod in the series, one is from the first generation of the series, the second is a completely unrelated bad guy from the second Generation. I wanted to move the first guy to Rodimus, because that's the name they currently sell the first toy under (and have for several years), but I didn't want to move the SECOND Hot Rod, as he was never renamed Rodimus by Hasbro. If I had moved the whole article I would have messed up the article for the second Hot Rod, whose name never changed. I hope this makes sense. Mathewignash 22:53, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
- I think I understand. There are two transformers: Hot Rod/Rodimus, from G1 and G2, and the new Jolt/Hot Rod, from G2 only. Is that right?
As I see it, our options are this: (1) We move the pre-August history from Hot Rod (Transformers) here, reconnecting the history with the bulk of the content. The page Hot Rod (Transformers) remains as it is, with links to Rodimus and to Jolt (Transformers). (2) Same as (1), except we redirect Hot Rod (Transformers) here, and put a {{redirect}} hatnote at the top of this page, pointing interested readers to Jolt. (3) We move this article back to Hot Rod (Transformers), wiping out the post-August-3 history there, and maintaining a {{dablink}} to Jolt (Transformers).
I would tend to lean towards (2) or (3), depending on which name is most commonly associated with the character in sources. What do others think, or is there an option that I missed? -GTBacchus(talk) 00:47, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
I've moved the page to Hot Rod (Transformers), implementing option (3) above, because it's been another week and nobody objected. -GTBacchus(talk) 23:25, 17 November 2007 (UTC)
