Hotel Kazakhstan

Hotel Kazakhstan (Kazakh: Қазақстан Қонақ Үйі) is the largest building in the city of Almaty, Kazakhstan. It is 129.8 meters tall.[1] It is situated in the southern center of Almaty and can be seen from almost anywhere on a clear day. It is located on Dostyk Avenue, a major road in the east part of the city which runs all the way from Medeo to Panfilov Park, in the north part of town.
One side of the hotel faces the mountains and the other side faces the city, although either way you could see mountains on a clear day from almost any view from the hotel. On the back side of the hotel, it is possible to view Kok Tobe (Blue Hill) from the hotel balcony.
The building was erected in 1970. It is a famous landmark all over Almaty, and serves as a symbol of the city. It is also the second tallest building in all Kazakhstan after Astana Tower in Astana.

The rooms are standard Soviet tourist issued rooms. Which means they are very basic and standard. The rooms cost roughly $125.00 USD a night plus the VAT tax. Each room also comes with a TV, balcony, but no bath, just a shower.

The hotel offers internet service for a fee.
They also have a registration office. If you are a foreigner, you must register your passport upon your arrival in the Republic of Kazakhstan. If you leave your passport in the registration office, you can pick it up after 1 hour and it will be registered.
The hotel also has two eating areas. They have a 24 hour bar and café area which is also the room service menu. From 0700 until 1100 they offer a free Kazakh buffet upstairs for hotel guests.
The receptionists all speak English, Russian, and Kazakh, and some of them might be knowledgable in Turkish or German also. They also have at the receptionist desk a money exchange area.
