Hot Seat was an American game show created by Merrill Heatter and Bob Quigley, best known for creation of Hollywood Squares. Hot Seat aired on the American television network ABC from July 12, 1976 to October 22, 1976. The show was hosted by Jim Peck, with Kenny Williams as the announcer.
[edit] Game Play
Two married couples played against each other one at a time. One of the spouses had to try and guess what the other would say when asked a round of three questions. But there was a certain twist. The spouse sitting in the "hot seat" would have their emotions measured by an electronic device that sensed electrical charges in the skin. The three questions were worth $100, $200, and $400. The team with the most money at the end of the show could take either an additional $500 or play the bonus round for a new car. Whichever option was not chosen went to their opponents.
[edit] Episode Status
The current status of the show is unknown, and more than likely is destroyed due to a common practice used by ABC with daytime programming, known as wiping. One episode currently exists on the trading circuit, in fair quality.
