Are you for real? Most police agencies and correctional insitutions have CNT's or Crisis/Hostage Negotiators on staff. Just type "Crisis Negotiation Team or Hostage Negotiation Team" into any search engine.JEdward 20:38, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

This article starts out talking about HBT, which is a term and name only ever used by the Chicago Police Department (as noted in the move The Negotiator), this unit has since changed it name to the more common "SWAT" accronymn.

The article then branches out about crisis talks and negotiation teams in general...such as the LAPD's use of "CNT" while not actually identifying or explaing the origins or use of the HBT itself.

I suggest an article on 'crisis negotiation' or CNT itself, or as a part of the larger SWAT article while this HBT article focus on the Chicago Police departments former unit of the same name. Crisis Negotiation Team or Hostage Negotiation Team are the most used terms used by Law Enforcement agencies. The name of this article should be changed to reflect that.JEdward (talk) 23:39, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

I tend to believe that all SWAT units have a "sub-unit" (for lack of better word) that does essentially this same job. I could support a move to Crisis Negotiation Team as long as it could encompass both HBT and similar "sub-units" of other services. No, a Crisis Negotiation Team is entirely different from a SWAT Team. While the two teams work closely together, the CNT, as does SWAT reports directly to the incident commander. Many prisons and other correctional insitutions have a, "cell extraction team" which is a small sub-unit of an Insitutional Emergency Response Team (IERT). The cell extraction team is usually made up of IERT members and is used when a full deployment of the IERT is not required.JEdward (talk) 05:00, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
