Hosea Gear (born 16 March 1984 in Gisborne, New Zealand) is the younger brother of All Black wing Rico Gear. He plays For The Wellington Hurricanes in the Super 14 competition on the Wings.
Hosea is 1.89m (6'3) tall and Weights 102kg. He attended Gisborne Boys' High School and he plays for the Hutt Old Boys-Marist rugby club. He has played 25 Super 12/14 matches and has scored 5 tries, two of them being game saving tries. He plays for the New Zealand Maori, and is thought to be a future All Black wing. He also used to play for Massey Rugby Club in 2004.His main criticism is that he doesn’t get involved in play enough, hence only scoring 8 tries in 25 games. In rounds 13-14 of the 2008 Super 14, he has been one of the main players of The Hurricanes team. He was dropped from round 12, because of poor performance. His speed and strength are his main talents, because he often breaks the first line in the defence.
