Hi Horsebird. I'll reply to you here on your talk page so that you are notified by the orange message bar. The note at the top of the article is just a suggestion to improve the article. This page gives more information about Wikipedia's citation styles. Listing the references at the bottom of the article is absolutely acceptable, so please use whatever citation method you are most comfortable with. I added the note to your article and not any of the others you mentioned because I came across it on Special:Newpages, a listing of Wikipedia's newest articles. - You can remove a notice you disagree with from the top of any article. It is not necessary to ask the person who added the notice to remove it.
