[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Southpark disclaimer.png

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Southpark disclaimer.png. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. When you use a generic fair use tag such as {{fair use}} or {{fair use in|article name}}, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Atomic1609 10:26, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

I uploaded only the PNG version instead of GIF, look back through the history for the original poster. -- Horkana 10:47, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
I think Atomic1609 means that while the image has the correct generic fairuse template, it does not have a detailed fair use rationale specific to the image and where it should be used. Take a look at an animation screenshot I uploaded a few weeks back - Image:TheSecretofNIMHscreen.jpg - and you'll see what is required - a brief explanation of why the image is useful to a particular article or articles justifying the fair use in detail. If you have any questions about how to do this properly, you're welcome to leave a message on my talk page. ~Matticus TC 10:56, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Please do not remove comments from your talk page

Welcome to Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia. However, talk pages are meant to be a record of a discussion; deleting or editing legitimate comments is considered bad practice, even if you meant well. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. ~Matticus TC 10:56, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

Cleanup? The history records old news, why is it bad practice to clear out old irrelevant clutter? -- Horkana 12:27, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
If you want to clear out old comments, then you can archive them. See WP:ARCHIVE for more details. ~Matticus TC 12:46, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
This kind of bureaucracy makes me want to kill this account rather than hang around and watch Wikipedia collapse under its own weight. Too many policies not enough automation, makes more difficult for users to contribute and reinforcing the exlusive clique of Wikipedians. I'm sure you mean well but neither of should ever had needed to have this discussion. -- Horkana 00:15, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
You own your user page, not your talk page. Wikipedia is what has been agreed on by its users. If you want to operate under other rules, there are plenty of wikis out there that will support you. Again, if you want to remove comments from your talk page, archive them, do not delete them. - Richfife (talk) 04:00, 30 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] List of The Wire episodes

Noting that you edited List of The Wire episodes within the last few months I wonder if you have an opinion about the use of screenshots in this article and would welcome your opinion here if you have time.--Opark 77 22:47, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Colin Mochrie

You were looking for the Apology to the US from Canada. Here it is. MRoberts <> 21:26, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

Cool thanks, best talk page comment yet. That does look (in)distinctly like Colin Mochrie. -- Horkana 22:05, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Academy Awards nominees and winners

Hi, I'm interested in creating all the past pages for the Academy Awards, but I wanted your input on the format. 79th Academy Awards nominees and winners has a better look (which I created) than 78th Academy Awards nominees and winners, but it could be better and cleaner. How do you propose to format the past pages? Supertigerman 03:01, 30 July 2007 (UTC)

All good points Horkana, I strongly agree that the winners should be clear even with quick glance. On the 79th Academy Awards nominees and winners page, I bolded and put a green highlight through the winner's row, in order to make it clear. However, the page is not organized well in terms of headings, table order, and formatting (especially in the miscellaneous section). What do you think would be the best way to change the current setup and what kind of format do you believe should be added to all previous years? Supertigerman 22:41, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
