Template talk:Horticulture and Gardening

Well, if its status as a "project banner" is the issue we could just remove "Part of a wiki project on Horticulture and Gardening" from this template. The real question is whether a navigation box makes sense. I didn't find a wikipedia policy/guideline/discussion/hint on that (although infobox mentions in passing "or improve navigation to closely related articles in that subject"). But I'm skeptical. It seems like this box is likely to take up a lot of space and yet only link to a fraction of Horticulture and Gardening articles, and miss the ones which are most likely to be relevant in any given context. Right now it's an issue of placement because they have been placed on the article pages, but also, it simply has been added to articles where the links are not highly related to content. I've seen the ones on the bottom of pages with lots of links, and I suppose since I have fast inernet, they're okay, but I'd be irritated if I lived anywhere but the land of the privileged First Worlders, because of the load time for all of those irrelevant links. This one, however, is a projects banner, and should be used as such. If they want to create an infobox that goes on Hort and gardening page, that's another issue. KP Botany 16:25, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
