[edit] Buildings

Horton High School consists of two buildings. The commons, and the main school building. The main school building has four stories in which only three are taught in. The commons area is the Gym, Lunch room, Shop, Music, and Auditorium building. This section was added after the school was constructed a long time ago.

[edit] Sports

For most of Horton High's history, it has been the underdog in sports. It all changed in the 2007-2008 school year. Beginning with Football, the chargers had claimed Delaware Valley League (DVL) Champions. This feat had not been accomplished for many years. The season was coached by Mr. Fred Winter. Next came Basketball. With coaching by Mr. Dave Olson, the team had gained the honor of being Sub State Champions. With this victory, nearly the whole school traveled to watch them in Hutchinson, Kansas where they would play for the state title. They also lost the first round.

[edit] Band

In the 2007-2008 school year the Band had also improved. When competing in the (DVL) Music Festival in Highland, Kansas, they accomplished to win a I rating (the highest rating you can get). This had not happened since 2004. This was due to declining numbers of students enrolling in Band. At State Music Festival in Holton, Kansas, they scored a II rating. The band is directed by Mr. Mark Vittetoe.
