Horizontal Mattress is a suture technique most commonly used in areas where any artifacts should be kept at a minimum. The knot will is parallel adjacent to the wound edge.

[edit] Uses

In chest drains this suture is used as "the wound closure" suture as it allows the incisions to maintain their linear shape, reducing discomfort and scarring.[1]
