Horizon City is a city in El Paso County, Texas, United States. The population is estimated to be at 12,987 in 2005. It is part of the El Paso Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Horizon City is located at 31°40′56″N, 106°11′46″W (31.682315, -106.196127)[3].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 5.7 square miles (14.8 km²), all of it land.

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 5,233 people, 1,668 households, and 1,427 families residing in the city. The population density was 912.9 people per square mile (352.6/km²). There were 1,745 housing units at an average density of 304.4/sq mi (117.6/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 81.92% White, 1.74% African American, 0.75% Native American, 0.48% Asian, 0.11% Pacific Islander, 12.10% from other races, and 2.90% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 64.91% of the population. According to the Town of Horizon City Public Works Department in 2007 the population of Horizon City was 9,655 almost double in size since 2000.

There were 1,668 households out of which 51.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 72.2% were married couples living together, 9.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 14.4% were non-families. 12.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 4.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.14 and the average family size was 3.42.

In the city the population was spread out with 34.2% under the age of 18, 6.9% from 18 to 24, 33.0% from 25 to 44, 17.9% from 45 to 64, and 8.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 32 years. For every 100 females there were 93.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.3 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $48,589, and the median income for a family was $50,982. Males had a median income of $36,293 versus $26,576 for females. The per capita income for the city was $17,175. About 7.1% of families and 10.4% of the population were below the poverty line, including 14.3% of those under age 18 and 2.8% of those age 65 or over.

Horizon City is described as having the elements of a traditional suburban or exurban setting. Having complete autonomy in its matters, Horizon City has its own political representation and dictates the direction that the city grows without large city interference or influence. The town is expected to take a surge in population with Fort Bliss expansion.
