The school mascot is the Blue Devil.

Under coach Bill Littlepage, the basketball team made it to the AAA State Finals in 1986 and the AAA State Quarter Finals in 1987. Hopewell High also was in the AAA State Finals in 1996 under coach Bill Littlepage and state football championship under Coach Marshall Parker in 2003- 2004.

Hopewell High School's classes 1950 through 1959 get together annually for the Reunion of the 50's at the home of Jack Daniel in Disputanta, Virginia.
