[edit] Fujigaoka
I can't say I have! But I saw it in the new pages list and was attracted by it. Did a look in a few books and a search on Google and was struck by the beauty of the streets - amazing with the cherry blossom! Never been to Japan, that's something to do one day once I get of Wikipedia... --GoAround 18:59, 14 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Bright Icon.gif
I'm afaraid this image is labeled as "fair use". Fair use images are not allwed on userpages. Could you remove it please.Geni 02:34, 10 June 2006 (UTC)
- You can't even though you may be a paid up memeber the various people people who reuse wikipedia content won't be. Wikipedia user pages are under the GFDL which allows reuse (for example a prehistoric version of my userpage is reused here).Geni 22:06, 10 June 2006 (UTC)
I am one who also holds this item on my userpage. I contest that the fair use label is inaccurate and should be changed. I have contacted the-brights.net about the issue, I recommend you do the same and maybe we can get the webmaster to put up a general statement about this that is easy for people that are not very dedicated to the accuracy of their statements to find.Solidusspriggan 18:29, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
I requested a comment from the brights.net and they said it was perfectly fine for us to use these logos in our namespace. Solidusspriggan 17:13, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
Yep, this is resolved, thanks Solidisspriggan!--Hontogaichiban 19:00, 24 June 2006 (UTC)
- No it isn't. with permission images are not allowed on wikipedia. Now remove it or I will.Geni 22:38, 2 July 2006 (UTC)
No, I do do not have permission... the image itself can be used generally in the same way that the christian cross can be used or the muslim crescent. In addition please watch your tone which is starting to sound threatening and patronising, this could start to amount to a serious abuse of your admin status.--Hontogaichiban 23:15, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
- I've been dealing with what should be a straightforward matter for over a month. Is the image GFDL? No. Is the image CC? No. Is the image PD? No. are the cross and the crescent PD? Yes. That is the difference. There is no avoiding this point. With permission gerneral permission to brights whatever don't matter. Images on user pages must be PD, CC or GFDL. The brights image is not. Thus the image cannot be used outside the article namespace. Now please remove it.Geni 19:50, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
Right, I have written conformation that the image is indeed PD i.e. has no copyright. Now how do we change the tag?--Hontogaichiban 21:55, 9 July 2006 (UTC)
I've corrected the tag now.--Hontogaichiban 19:07, 12 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] The Myth of Race
I first saw your comment to the intermarriage page; that it is confusing. I contributed to this page, but I think I understand your meaning, especially after seeing your profile page and that you don't support the idea of race. I understand your point. From growing prehistoric human migrations theories, it seems there really is no need for race technically, but I think it still has validity to describe people's perceptions... I would like to hear more of your thoughts spettro4@lycos.com --spettro9 5 July 2006 (UTC)
It's not just prehistoric human migrations theories, although they are important. A lot of the argument against race is common sense. First of all if races were to exist they would have to be clearly defined, they are not. If you walked from Paris to Beijing, at no point would you find a line where on one side people were "white" and on the other side "Asian/Chinese" this smooth gradient effect is called "clines". The transition would be smooth and it always has been. There are also no problems with interbreeding between so-called "races", in fact children of people who are less closely related to one another are on average likely to be healthier than those between more closely related individuals. We also know that genetically the features that we use to define race are just a few minor changes in the genetic make up, as a whole the human race is very similar genetically. Did you know that about 80% of genetic diversity is found in Africa where humans first evolved and that there is far less difference between peoples living outside Africa? Before the Roman empire there were many groups of people who looked similar, for example the Germans had blond hair and blue eyes, the Britons had red hair and pale skin and the French had brown hair and green eyes. Thanks to the Romans moving large numbers of people around Europe as slaves or soldiers europe turned into a melting pot and spread the genetic material far and wide. The romans even recruited Africans as soliders and posted them to Scotland where they married the locals and settled down. This is why the term European takes into account such a wide range of characteristics today. Race only exists as a social construction, it does not exist scientifically. Race is taken more seriously in the US than many other countries.--Hontogaichiban 21:28, 8 July 2006 (UTC)

Tagging Adrian Magson for further review
Hello, Hontogaichiban … I recently encountered the article about Adrian Magson and in my opinion, it either lacks sufficient Attribution that it satisfies the Notability criteria for Biographies, or it may violate the Conflict of interest guideline, or perhaps it violates a copyright.
I am considering tagging Deletion policy … I do not have time to examine the article in depth at the moment, and it may improve over time, in which case this warning was premature.
for deletion according to theI have created this initial entry on your Talk page because you are either the original author of the article, or else a recent contributor to it; I will leave more detailed information regarding my specific concerns about the article on its Discussion page … please respond either there or on this Talk page, instead of on my Talk page, in order to avoid fragmenting the conversation.
I do not mean to imply that your contribution is unappreciated … perhaps you should read Your first article … and remember, there was a time when I knew less about how Wikipedia works than you know right now, and I am always available to help you become a more proactive contributor.
IMHO, the article is better sourced than it was six weeks ago, but I still have some concerns regarding Wikipedia:Notability (books) (a.k.a. WP:BK) ... Happy Editing! —72.75.72.63 (talk · contribs) 18:04, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] books and authors
When writing an article about an author, at the very least, add their best selling books. A good place to get the information from is WorldCat, look for the number of libraries holding them, as I added for June Goodfield. Now go add add the science fiction too, and look for some reviews of this famous author, and find her year of birth at least as a start to the biography. DGG (talk) 14:53, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
