[edit] Annual Function run by Student Affair Office and students' societies to students in the South East Asia

There is two activities organized by HKUST to South East Asia:

1) Delta Forum

The Business Students’ Union, Engineering Students’ Union, and Science Students'
Association of HKUST jointly organize a program entitled “Delta Forum’ for tertiary
students of the Pan-Pearl River Delta region. The Delta Forum is a program which aims to
stimulate our fellow students’ awareness of the cultural, social and economic influences
of the Pan-Pearl River Delta Region and to provide an opportunity for students from
different backgrounds to exchange and share intellectually as well as culturally.
In Delta Forum 2007, international exposure and cultural exchange will also be a
special new feature. We plan to invite university students from Singapore, Malaysia and
Australia to join the Delta Forum. It will help to widen the participants’ exposure and
perspective through the sharing and exchange.

2) Aearu Camp

The Association of East Asian Research Universities (AEARU) was formed in January 1996
to promote cooperation and exchange among universities in East Asia.AEARU bring stogether
17 universities from the following regions: Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea
and Taiwan. These universities all have significant strengths in science and technology,
sharing common traits in their academic profiles, educationalgoals, R&D interest and
faculty composition. Being in the same geographical area, they also share a similar
culture and a strong sense of affinitywith one another. AEARU was formed to identify
areas of mutual interest for productive collaboration and the AEARU Student Camp is one
of the activities organized to achieve this.
The first AEARU Student Camp was held at Pohang University of Science and Technology
(POSTECH) in South Korea in 1997. Since 1998 summer, four AEARU Student Camps (Topical)
were held at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) . All of them were
successfully held. After four years, the Student Camp (General) will be held in HKUST.

[edit] Unnecessary information

This article needs a wikiedit as it contains many unnecessary information which is not related to the university itself. One of these examples are "hair salon prices" etc...

List of clubs is highly excessive. Please remove links. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.40.139.109 (talk) 14:05, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
