Talk:Honda CL450

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Recently acquired a 69 cl450 scrambler in very good condition, only about 20,000 original mi on the clock. Initially I was having problems w/ the bikes idle shooting up after the first time I put gas in it. I made sure the throttle wasn't sticking and proceeded to the carbs. I disassembled the carbs and cleaned them thoroughly. I also replaced the clutch cable. The bike was running fine although a little rich when I last rode it and would sometimes foul the plugs. I adjusted the carbs to run more lean and the bike seemed to be running well. When riding the other day in exceptionally hot weather(around 100 degrees) the bike started to cut out intermittently and lose power on the hills after about five miles or so and then started to emit a slight clattering noise but made it home. I immediately shut it down and let it cool off. Then, when I returned to start the bike the kick starter has locked up. I checked the oil and the level is perfect and the oil is clean, it's also not leaking any oil. Just wondering if anyone has suggestions as to where to go from here.-Brett
