"Honky Tonk Badonkadonk" is a single, released in late 2005 by country music artist Trace Adkins. It is notable for its use of the word "badonkadonk", a popular urban slang term for a woman's shapely buttocks.

The song was a crossover hit for Adkins, peaking at #2 on the U.S. Hot Country Songs chart, and reaching the Top 40 on both the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and Pop 100 charts. It was also certified gold for more than 100,000 musical downloads from iTunes, and reached Number One on the iTunes country charts.^[1] It was also highly successful as a ringtone, with over 75,000 downloads of the song's ringtone.^[2]

A music video was also made, featuring an alternate, remixed version of the song.^[1] The video remix, along with two other remixes and a reprise of the original mix, are also featured on Adkins' 2007 album Dangerous Man.

[edit] Story behind the song

According to Jamey Johnson, who co-wrote the song, the idea for "Honky Tonk Badonkadonk" came when Johnson and two of his friends were watching a young woman with large, shapely buttocks dancing at a club. (Johnson described her as "look[ing] like somebody had shoved a refrigerator in her pants.") Randy Houser, one of the co-writers, saw the female as well, and came up with the line "honky tonk badonkadonk"; within an hour, the three had written the song.^[3]
