Honeywell ALF 502

The Honeywell ALF 502/LF 507 is a turbofan engine produced by Lycoming, AlliedSignal and then Honeywell. The ALF 502 was certified in 1980, and used on the BAe 146 and Bombardier Challenger 600. The improved, higher-thrust LF 507 was used on the Avro RJ update of the BAe 146.

The engine was chosen for the BAe 146 because of its quietness and low emissions, achieved using a high-bypass geared fan and a reverse-flow combustion chamber.
