Honeybourne

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Honeybourne is a rural village in Worcestershire, England. It is 5 miles east of Evesham. It had a population of 1619 and approximately 600 houses at the last census in 2001. Much of the surrounding land is farmland.

Honeybourne has several old thatched buildings and some newer brick buildings. Originally it was two villages, Cow Honeybourne and Church Honeybourne. When they joined, one of the churches was made into a private house. The other is called St. Ecgwins.

Tourist attractions include the Domestic Fowl Trust, a widely known conservation centre for rare breed poultry, The Ranch, The Thatched Tavern (which was built in the thirteenth century) and Honeybourne Pottery.

There is a First School for children aged 4 to 10 and a Nursery called Honeybees for children aged 2 to 4.

The village is served by Honeybourne railway station, on the Cotswold Line. It was formerly a bustling four-way junction with four platforms, though now it is a very minor affair with just one platform.
