[edit] Products
[edit] k100
The k100 is a circuit board added to an applicable ECU that allows it to be reprogrammed by a Hondata dealer. The product is not available in North America and is generally not customizable by the purchaser.
[edit] K-Pro
K-Pro is a circuit board added to an applicable ECU that allows it to be reprogrammed. With the use of the Windows program KManager, the product also allows data logging and reprogramming by the purchaser via a USB port.
essentialy using the orignal script provided by honda, but adding key end-user adustable peices of coding, allowing the user to "tune" or control various aspects of the engine control unit.
despite what many less-knowledgable honda and acura tuners belive, hondata is not a standalone system, in more knowledgable tuners eyes the hondata system is essentially an advanced piggy-back unit, utlizing a daughter board inside the orignal casing of the factory ecu to manipulate script.
the chipset used in subaru and mitsubshi powered re-flashable (by gnu open source software) is also used in honda ecu's. by law all newer obd2 ecu's must be re-prgramable incase of a crash.
when talking about a do-it-ypurself solution for honda and acura k pro ecu's, it is genrally looked down upon, most people working on it, or able to actually reflash the ecu, deny the fact that they have looked at it or are working on it.
mainly due to the fact that the gray legality issues hondata, honda and pgmfi.org have created with their disputes, this essentially killed all opensource/gnu proects on honda ecu's, most progrmamers moved onto other lesser known projects, like openecu.
hondata however is a very helpful company, and did not set out to dissapate diy projects, the law suit simply "scared" many prospective and advanced tuners out of the proects, due to undefiend intellectal property laws, not unlike music, movie and video game piracy.
[edit] Reflash
Hondata offers a one-time programming service for certain ECUs with a tune that they have developed to provide better performance. Reflashes are currently available for the Acura RDX, Acura RSX, Acura TSX, Honda Civic SI, and Honda S2000. The company also offers upgrades to the "race" tune for use with certain models of Jackson Racing superchargers.
[edit] s100
The s100 is a base Hondata system which offers the tunability as the s200 without the additional options (datalogging, 3-step, g-sensor) that the s200 offers.
[edit] s200
The s200 is an advanced version of the s100. The s200 system consists of an interface box which connects to a modified stock ECU. The s200 replaces the Stage 2/3/4 systems.
s200 has now been discontinued.
[edit] s300/s300j
The s300 has all the functions of the s100 and s200 with all the added goodies. Forced induction, datalogging, real time updating of parameters, engine protection are but a few of the s300 features. The ECU can be reprogrammed using the software provided from Hondata.
The s300 fits in the rectangular ECU box of the USDM models. However, for the square box JDM model ECU's, the s300j is provided.
